Alexander Proclamation

Document written by General Alexander, commander of the Allied forces, on 13 November 1944. Due to incessant rains, it ordered the cessation of war actions against Nazi fascism until the following spring. The invitation was also addressed to the Resistance forces. It created considerable difficulties for the partisans in the province of Ravenna, who disregarded it by engaging in the battle for the Liberation of Ravenna, which took place on 4 December 1944.
