On Wednesday 9 April 2025, the exhibition “Ingredients for a panel: Giulio Ruffini and the Metaphysics of Dictatorship” opens at the gallery of the Museo della Battaglia del Senio.
The exhibition, with works from the family art collection of the artist, shows a series of collages that Ruffini produced in the 70s and 80s, combining different types of media and materials to tell his idea of dictatorship.
For the first time, his most “political” collages are selected and exhibited to the public, some distinctly explicit in meaning, irreverent, grotesque, others more symbolic, almost dreamlike.
Ruffini plays with words, figures and materials, creating a dense encounter between physical representations and mental images: a succession of chimeras that reaches the viewer like a puzzle, with different levels of difficulty.
The exhibition will be open until June 2, 2025, from Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 1pm, on Wednesday also from 2pm to 5pm, on Saturday from 9am to 12 pm, on Sunday upon request.
